Ten things for Easter Sunday

1. Rejoice and worship the risen Jesus as your Lord and God.
2. It was impossible for death to hold down the righteous Son of God.
3. Jesus' resurrection means that God accepted his death as an atonement for sin.
4. We are justified by Jesus' resurrection.
5. At his resurrection, Christ was appointed the Son of God with power.
6. The risen Jesus is Lord of heaven and earth.
7. The whole of the Trinity was active in raising Christ from the dead.
8. Baptism symbolises that the believer has been raised with Christ to new life in the Spirit.
9. Believers will be raised by Jesus and bear the image of his glory as the Last Adam.
10. Jesus' resurrection was the beginning of the renewal of the whole cosmos.

3. The resurrection is Christ's objective VICTORY over sin and death, offered now to believers.
5. This happened at the ascension, not the resurrection.

7. No, it is God the Father who raised Christ from the dead, by the power of the Spirit.

8. Only partly right. Baptism symbolizes that believer has been crucified and buried with Christ and THEN raised to new life in the Spirit. Without the death to sin, the resurrection to new life is a sham. Baptism is an execution, and burial in a watery grave, before it is a resurrection in power and new life.

Other than that, this was fairly good.

Every blessing to you too Andrew.

Michael,

3. I agree. But that's not the point I wanted to make. These "Ten things" are necessarily pithy. People can always draw attention to things I've missed out in their comments.

5. Not according to Romans 1:3-4.

7. What about John 2:19 & 10:18 which suggests that Christ had power to raise himself from the dead & Romans 1: 3 & 4 regarding the role of the Spirit in Jesus' resurrection? The external acts of the Trinity are undivided. God the Father raised his Son from the dead. He was appointed the Son of God with power according to the Spirit of holiness by the resurrection. Jesus has power to raise himself from the tomb.

8. Agreed. See the "Ten things" for Good Friday and Easter Saturday. I mentioned the different aspects of baptism separately to save repeating the same points 3 times.
